Atari Game Partners, a wholly-owned subsidiary of video game giant Atari, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine to raise up to $20 million in order to bring its hit classic game RollerCoaster Tycoon to the Nintendo Switch game console. The company claimed since its initial release in 1999, RollerCoaster Tycoon has been one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time and the game’s series has moved more than 14.4 million units worldwide and generated in excess of $220 million in revenue in the U.S. alone. A total of 4.6 million units was sold in Europe.
“Early in 2017, Atari unveiled the newest entry into the franchise — RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch. This free-to-play 3D simulation game for iOS and Android was an instant success, skyrocketing to the top of the app stores after worldwide launch featuring by Apple and Google Play. With more than 12 million downloads since launch and praise from gamers and critics alike, the classic gameplay proved to be a natural fit for touchscreen devices, making it easier than ever for gamers to flex their imaginations. In developing the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise in its most recent versions, Atari worked with Nvizzio Creations. This world-class developer has years of experience developing engaging 3D experiences for gamers, and was intimately involved in the development of RollerCoaster Tycoon World for the PC.”
Some of RollerCoaster Tycoon upcoming key features include:
- Multiple Scenarios – Complete tricky objectives with specific time limits and other constraints.
- Sandbox Mode with Various Landscapes
- Tycoon Career Mode – Expand parks and grow amusement Empires.
Atari Game Partners reported it is planning to work with Nvizzo Creations again on the project. It was also revealed:

Atari Game Partners and Nvizzio Creations is aiming to release RollerCoaster Tycoon to Switch later this year. The company added it will turn its attention to bringing a new release from Atari’s catalog to mobile devices within the next twelve months as well.
The campaign is set to close this Spring.
