Apple Pay, Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) digital wallet product, was reportedly offline for some users.
According to Downdetector, Apple Pay experienced an outage from around 11 AM to 2 PM ET. This apparently impacted purchases and funds transfers. Comments appear to indicate that no specific region was affected, but it seems the issue has since been resolved.
Apple, a notoriously cautious company when it comes to public statements, has not shared exactly what the issue may have been or how many users were actually impacted. The X account associated with Apple Support has not made any posts today.
CNBC reported that it has reached out to the firm but has yet to receive any explanation.
As of 2024, it was estimated that there were over 60.2 million users of Apple Pay.
Update: Apple has reported that pay issues are now resolved. According to the Apple System Status page, Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Apple Pay as well as the wallet are now all functioning correctly. The issue lasted from 11:14 to 1:01 pm today. “Some users were affected.”
