Silicon Prairie Holdings has added a new feature to its platform – a voting module for issuers to poll investors.
Silicon Prairie is a full-stack online capital formation provider that also offers services like secondary transactions with an ATS and tools to manage cap tables, investor relations, and other post-offering products.
The company explains that its Voting Module will assist firms in surveying investors on important resolutions like board elections, mergers, and general feedback from the people who support the firm.
The VOTING module is said to support complex ownership structures, where votes are weighted based on share ownership, and in some cases, multipliers may apply.
The feature aims to offer companies the governance flexibility needed to engage their investors.
There is also a Proxy option, under which investors can nominate others to vote on behalf of their interests—an option that is revocable at any time.
The ongoing evolution of securities crowdfunding reflects the demand for digitally enhanced services beyond straight securities offerings. Issuers must interact with investors once a securities offering is finished, and firms see that post-offering services drive value—as early investors tend to invest again if they are pleased with the progress and communication with the firm.
David Duccini, founder of Silicon Prairie, explains:
“Shareholder voting is something we contemplated in our original business plan back in 2016, and we released the concept in 2017. It just took this long to find a client who actually needed it!”
