The Autorite des marches financiers (AMF) in France has published a 2023 Markets and Risk Outlook report. While covering a broad spectrum of issues, the item which garners the highest level of concern is the lack of investor protection and poor information about certain investments.
In fact, the AMF says that beyond the frequent scams, the boundary between gaming and investing has become blurred.
The AMF references the collapse of TerraLuna in May 2022 and the bankruptcy of the FTX trading platform in November 2022 that caused a sharp fall in the cryptocurrency market.
In general, the AMF states that risk is increased as questions remain as to “the ability of financial market participants to adapt to the new interest rate environment by managing their liquidity and credit risk.”
The executive summary of the report is available here.
