According to Marqeta, Peters recently served as Chief Marketing Officer of MuleSoft and will be responsible for Marqeta’s global marketing efforts driving the strategy and execution in marketing including brand, PR, corporate marketing, product marketing, events and demand generation.

FintechSpeaking about Peters’ appointment, Marqeta Founder and CEO, Jason Gardner, stated:

“Marqeta has brought incredible innovations to market and there’s still a massive opportunity in front of us to execute these globally. How we communicate our story and educate the next generation of payments innovators are critical to our success. Vidya has a proven ability to craft simple, compelling narratives about complex enterprise platform products for a large global audience. She is a world-class marketer, and we’re very excited to welcome her to the team.”

Vidya went on to add:

“Marqeta built the first modern card issuing platform to support innovators and disrupt a $45 trillion market entrenched with legacy solutions. I am looking forward to scaling the marketing strategy and execution to fuel Marqeta’s next chapter of growth.”

The appointment of Peters comes less than a month after Marqeta secured $260 million through its Series E funding round. Over the past year, the company has accomplished various milestones, including before a fintech unicorn. Gardner stated at the time of the investment announcement:

“We’ve built real, meaningful open API card issuing and processing technology that is set up to have generational impact in the payment industry. Oakland has been the ideal home for these innovations, both an intricate part of the Silicon Valley ecosystem, with its own unique sense of community and individualism.”
