Hopsters Brewery’s Wicked Awesome Wefunder Crowdfunding Update

Something’s brewing in Boston… Just two years ago Hopsters Brewery celebrated investors pouring in $2 million in its first Wefunder crowdfunding campaign. Just a few weeks ago Hopsters Brewery initiated its second Wefunder Reg CF round, this time seeking $1,070,000 to scale up in a new Philadelphia location and add two more restaurants in undisclosed locations in 2019.

Funding will help the brewery bring its hope of having 16 locations in operation by 2022 to fruition. The craft brewery, bar and restaurant is nearing its minimum $300K goal, having raised more than $255,198 with the support of over 60 investors. With a $4 million target goal, this campaign is like a marathon: slow and steady wins the funding.

Launched in Newton, Mass (Green Line Beantown suburb, just off the Mass Pike in case you want to pass by on your leaf peeping journey) by the husband and wife team of Lee Cooper and Karen Cooper, by late 2017 Hopsters already opened its flagship Boston Seaport location tapping into the droves of tourists and young professionals wanting more than just chowda and lobsta. The company reportedly earned $1.1M in Q1 of 2018 at its Seaport location which has a 180-person capacity, twelve kettle stations, a bar, brew hall and a full-service restaurant and kitchen.

Why Newton and Boston?

“In Boston, our 6,000 sq ft location has the capacity for 180 people and boasts 12 kettle stations, a bar, a brew hall, and a full-service restaurant and kitchen. To save costs, all Hopsters beer is brewed in the Newton location,” according to the campaign. “We built a strong brand in Newton, so our brewhouse, tap room, and corporate sales have all been strong so far. We expanded because we felt our margins and our sales would be that much higher in a bigger location, which has been the case so far, and gives us confidence in expanding our business plan nationally in the ensuing years.”
