Live Music Aggregation Website GigList Now Seeking Funds Through Seedrs Equity Crowdfunding Round

Giglist, a UK-based aggregation site for the live music industry, is now seeking £120,000 through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. Founded in 2017, the company states it combines a database of events, live gig reports, album reviews, news, and interviews onto one platform.

GigList revealed it aims to be the definitive live music events and news website that presents a world of gigs to the fans who love them. The company was notably established to counter a “lack of holistic sources” of information for the live music industry.

Whilst the ticketing end of the industry is rich with core players, we believe the event information they provide is too heavily focussed upon the monetisation of headline acts at the expense of the user. Secondly, social media is an active source of information but reliant upon personal network, and requires a connection to various sources to capture any sort of comprehensive view – which is limiting. Outside of this, we feel there exists a lack of simple yet comprehensive alternative listings for artist-agnostic music lovers.

James Eddleston, CEO and Co-Founder of GigList, also stated:

“GigList came about because of a realisation I’d had, which was that the old sources of reading about the newest artists and also finding out when and where they were playing, had all but died out. Drawing upon my experience in technology and big-data, I thought why not use that type of technology to build something comprehensive for the music fan. Plus, not constantly trying to barrage them with adverts or things to buy, just a really cool platform to discover events and artists and read great content.”

Funds from the Seedrs funding round is set to be used to hire a team focusing on development, sales, and marketing, to continue to grow the user base and establish venue and promoter relationships. Since launching, the campaign has secured nearly £70,000. It is set to close at the end of June.
