Sberbank, Russia’s Largest Bank, Announces Payment Solution


Sberbank and Telegram have announced the development of a new payment solution for partners using Telegram bots. The solution is described as allowing the acceptance of MasterCard, Visa and MIR card payments. The development also marks the first time Apple Pay and Android Pay can be used as payment methods in Telegram bots. Sberbank’s partners will now be able to process both orders and payments through Telegram bots, making the process quick and convenient.

Sberbank explained;

“A company can set up its own bot through an assistant bot, created by Telegram’s payments API, BotFather. Existing partners can simply select Sberbank as their payment provider and specify the internet acquiring contract ID. Non-partners can test payment receipt by entering “test” in the login field.”

Sberbank is Russia’s largest bank and holds almost one third of aggregate Russian banking sector assets. It is the key lender to the national economy and the biggest deposit taker in Russia. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation is the founder and principal shareholder of Sberbank owning 50% of the Bank’s authorized capital plus one voting share, with the remaining 50% held by domestic and international investors. Sberbank has more than 145 million customers in 21 countries.
