Storm Electronic Bike is on a trajectory to be one of the most successful rewards based crowdfunding campaigns of the year. Launched on February 1st (3 days ago), Storm eBike immediately jumped out of the gate to over a quarter million dollars and has since gained velocity. In less than a week Storm is now over pushing $2 million raised and there is plenty of time in this campaign as it is scheduled to close on March 3rd so it has plenty of time to go.
Storm is an all terrain bike that incorporates a high density lithium ion battery that will power you up to speeds of 20 miles per hour and up to distances of over 30 miles on single charge. No worries though if you run out of juice because thats when pedal power kicks in. And the price point is pretty amazing at $499. Compare that to regular bikes online – much less one that comes with its own electric engine.
The Storm eBike is named after creator Storm Sondors. Previously an industrial designer, in an earlier incarnation he designed toys for McDonalds Happy Meals. Quite a life change going from plastic throw away toys to become an entrepreneur designing the most affordable electric bike ever.
Probably the only thing to detract from this product is the bike could stand to lose a few pounds as it weighs in at 45 lbs. But then once again – what do you expect for a cross between electric scooter and mountain bike.
Over 3500 backers have jumped aboard this project. Agency 2.0 is assisting on this one. They are a marketing team behind more than a few crowdfunding hits – so expect this one to go much higher.
