Beddit Backers Take To Indiegogo Over Litany Of Problems

International shipping issues. Functionality problems. Cross-compatibility problems. Taken at face value, comments on the Indiegogo campaign for the Beddit bed monitor don’t paint a very kind picture of the device.

The following is an excerpt from a recent update posted by Beddit’s Lasse Leppäkorpi…

We are committed to develop the best sleep tracker.

Most of the new Beddits has been shipped to our backers. We released the first version of the Beddit app for iOS in January. A beta version of the Android app has been distributed to a limited group of Indiegogo backers to test it before release.

We have started to collect feedback from you about the initial release of the Beddit iOS app. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and we appreciate the large quantities of feedback that is currently pouring in. Please use the feedback link in the app under the sleep information, as the feedback then goes directly to our development team and can be taken into account when making improvements. We will continuously release updates to improve the sleep results.

The Finnish startup behind the device has encouraged backers to submit support requests via the Beddit web site. Still, that hasn’t stopped the comment section of the Indiegogo campaign from fizzling into a collection of complaints…

The major sticking point seems to be this “challenges” section included within the pitch…

Specifically, the iOS/Android app promise didn’t come to fruition. Android users were left without an accompanying app, and that rendered the device largely useless.

Also, many backers expressed concern over a perceived discrepancy between the in-app experience & device functionality versus what was pictured in app screenshots.

All in all, it’s a tough situation for the Beddit team that I am sure comes with an array of hard lessons learned. Hopefully they can dig out and please their 3900+ backers before it’s too late.
