In an initiative to aid Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, mega-superstart Justin Bieber has partnered with Prizeo to raise $1,000,000. With 9 days to go the campaign has raised well over $400,000 as Bieber’s fans and contributors poorer into support the cause. Contributors also have the chance of spending the day with Bieber in his studio. The winner, plus a friend, will be able to hang out with Bieber in a recording studio in Los Angeles and watch him record some new music. And yes – flight and hotel accommodations are included.
Three charities will benefit from this Prizeo campaign including Action Against Hunger, UNICEF and Philam Foundation. Some Action Agaings Hunger donors will be matching the first $250,000 donations made to the campaign. The Canadian Government has magnanimously offered to match donations from legal residents of Canada according to the campaign page (Bieber is from Canada).
An estimated 13.2 million people have been affected by what has been described as a “super” typhoon. Over 3.5 Million are estimated to be homeless.
Donations levels ranged from $10 and up. For $750 a contributor receives a signed Justin Bieber Phillipines OnePiece. If you are a top sharer, and Belieber of course, you even get a personal twitter shout out from the recording star.
