SCI Marketplace Lending Securitization Seminar – New York City

June 28, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Join SCI for the 2nd Annual Marketplace Lending Securitisation Seminar on June 28 in New York.

After the success of the inaugural 2015 event this seminar will once more bring together the most relevant investors, issuers, arrangers and service firms in the industry to discuss the most pressing topics affecting the sector.
Agenda

12:00 Registration

12:30-1:20 Investor perspective

This panel will discuss how the investor view of marketplace loans and related securitisations is developing and the prospects of this sector becoming a mainstream asset class. What needs to happen for marketplace ABS to gain critical mass? How have investment strategies in the sector evolved? How is reputational risk being managed in the context of institutional investing in securitised loans?

Networking Break 30 Mins

1:50-2:40 Regulations

Various regulatory initiatives have been mooted, industry groups have formed to oversee the sector in the last 12 months, and the Midland-Madden case is yet to be resolved. This panel reviews the impact of regulations on the sector with an additional focus on risk retention and reps & warranties.

Networking Break 30 Mins

3:10-3:55 Presentation: Established assets

A case study of how a typical MPL securitisation has been put together, and whose input is required, from investors, issuers, loan aggregators, ratings agencies and servicers. A look at why consumer loans and student loans are a ‘good fit’ for marketplace ABS. What lessons can be learnt from the structuring and placement of outstanding securitisations? With delinquencies increasing and potential rating downgrades looming, this session will also cover transaction performance and the track record of the sector.

Networking Break 30 Mins

4:25-5:10 Platform differentiation

Against the increasing homogenisation of the sector, this panel will examine what differentiates marketplace lending platforms from online lenders and the different capital market strategies involved. How important is balance sheet lending for fuelling growth? What is the latest best practise in terms of cyber security and compliance management? How are platforms managing reputational risk? And what of bank partnerships?

5:10-5:55 Emerging assets

A look at the emergence of mortgage/real estate marketplace lenders and the steps necessary for securitisation of these loans. How do origination and underwriting practises differ from those of the more established marketplace assets? How should investors approach deals backed by new asset types and/or originated by new platforms? Is SME marketplace lending/ABS likely to grow significantly?

 6:00-7:30 Cocktails & Networking
