StackHawk Raises $12m to Fortify API Security in AI-Driven Development

StackHawk, a shift-left API security platform, has raised $12 million in additional funding from Sapphire and Costanoa Ventures to accelerate its efforts in securing software built with AI-assisted development tools.

The latest investment brings the company’s total funding to $47.3 million.

The funding will be used to speed up the rollout of new products and features designed to support modern engineering teams operating in fast-paced, data-sensitive industries such as healthcare and financial services.

The company plans to deepen its platform’s automation capabilities and improve security testing processes to help development teams maintain strong application security postures, even as they scale with the help of generative AI.

As companies increasingly adopt AI to speed up software creation, the pressure on security teams has grown.

Recent research shows developers are deploying code 70% faster with the help of AI tools, but 30% of that code contains security vulnerabilities.

The imbalance between rapid development and slow-moving security checks has created a vulnerability gap that StackHawk aims to close.

StackHawk’s platform integrates security testing into the software development lifecycle, allowing engineers to detect and fix API and application vulnerabilities early—before code is pushed to production.

This shift-left approach is especially vital in a landscape where, according to Imperva’s 2024 API Security Report, API calls account for 71% of global internet traffic.

Application security teams have struggled to keep up with the volume of issues generated by faster deployment cycles, often creating remediation backlogs and delaying response times.

Recognized at RSA 2025 with a Global Infosec Award as an outstanding API security platform, StackHawk is positioning itself at the forefront of secure development for the AI era.

Its tools are designed to reduce reliance on manual prioritization and ticketing by automating issue detection and resolution directly within developers’ workflows.

With growing interest in securing APIs and preventing data breaches before they occur, StackHawk’s continued innovation aligns with enterprise demands for scalable, proactive security solutions.

The new funding signals confidence from investors that StackHawk can lead the next wave of developer-first security platforms tailored for AI-accelerated software delivery.
