Toy Block Tape Nimuno Loops Quickly Captures Nearly $1 Million Through Indiegogo Campaign

Calling all Lego, Mega Bloks, and Kreo fans! Nimuno, a division of Chrom Cherry Design Studio, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo this week for its new Lego compatible sticky tape known as Nimuno Loops. The project quickly secured its initial $8,000 and is now nearly $1 million thanks to more than 27,200 backers.

While sharing details about the project, the Nimuno team, Anine Kirsten and Max Basler, revealed:

We at Nimuno have spent our lives building and creating using Toy Building Blocks. As professional designers, we see the creative potential it offers people young and old. In fact, we liked those wonderful Toy Blocks so much that we wanted to find a way to bring them to everyday surfaces – to bring them to the rest of the world. Nimuno loops does just that through its flexibility, cuttability and its re-useable adhesive backing. Forget the Internet of Things. We want to see the Nimuno Loops of Things! The possibilities are endless and we’d like you to have the opportunity to create paradigm-shifting builds on more-or-less any smooth surface, anytime.”

The duo also noted that the tape is compatible with most major toy building block systems. They also explained:

We need your help to bring Nimuno to life. We’ve worked long, hard hours to take Nimuno from concept to working prototype. After more than a year of development, we’re confident the product is ready for production. Your contributions will help us pay for final prototyping and testing of Nimuno Loops using various materials and adhesive, as well as the creation of industrial tools for the casting of Nimuno Loops. With your contributions we want to create a thriving business based right here in Cape Town that makes the world a better, kinder and more creative place. Where no child is left playing inside and where Nimuno Loops are everywhere!”

Funds from the campaign will be used to pay for research and development; industrial tools needed for production; and the shipping and logistics. Those that back the project will receive the tape starting at $11 and the estimated delivery is set for July 2017. The campaign will run until mid-April.
