Crowdfunding: Moving the elephant through the python

Startups today are whining about the lack of funding available after raising a family-and-friends or angel seed round. They’re calling it the “Series A Crunch.”

Angel investors made approximately 60,000 seed stage investments in 2011. In the same year, Venture capitalists made just under 2,000 early stage, or Series A investments. Seed and early stage deals, or A round deals funded by VCs represented only 3 percent of the angel deals total.

Many startup founders are excited by the idea of crowdfunding.
