T Hephner, president of Healthy U Snacks, has more calls for his vending machines stocked with energy bars and other good-for-you snacks than he can handle.
“We get requests for our services every day and we don’t have the manpower to respond,” says Mr. Hephner, who started the McHenry-based company in 2009 and recently began franchising the business to meet demand.
But when four potential franchisees recently withdrew contracts, citing an uncertain economy, Mr. Hephner, 39, decided to seek out a buyer for Healthy U. Earlier access to cash may have changed the direction of the company, he says.
