Mark Cuban-backed NFT [Non-fungible token] marketplace Mintable is auctioning off a 1926 painting “Abstract Composition” by Wladimir Baranoff-Rossiné. Now, this is somewhat different as the actual painting, frame and all, will be purchased by the highest bidder who will also receive an NFT authentication certificate.
Mintable claims to be the industry’s very first NFT generator, manager, and batch minter, and as well as a marketplace. The NFT marketplace has been built on the Zilliqa and Ethereum blockch
ains.
In the last month, Mintable reports over 70,000 NFTs created and listed for sale using Mintable’s minting option.
Mintable is said to be working closely with Baranoff-Rossiné’s family to facilitate the additional sale of 9 purely-digital NFT representations of his works in a series of 3 auctions and 6 limited edition sales from 25 March 2021 onwards.
Zach Burks, CEO of Mintable said the emergence of NFTs comes as no surprise and Mintable is pioneering a new cultural movement in this arena.

Baranoff-Rossiné (1888-1944) was a Ukrainian, Russian, and French painter, sculptor, and inventor who was part of the cubo-futurism movement. His 1910 work ‘Adam and Eve’ was auctioned for US $5.3 million at Christie’s London in 2008.
NFTs have boomed in recent months. Following Beeples sale of an NFT for $69 million the entire world woke up to the NFT market that has been described as being similar to trading physical collectibles.
