Digital Banking: Monzo USA Personalized Digital Payments Cards Have Arrived

Digital bank Monzo, which recently scored an additional £60 million investment, has revealed that personalized cards have now arrived for US customers.

The Monzo team notes in a blog published on December 16, 2020, that they’re pleased to announce that they’ve introduced their newly designed, personalized Monzo USA cards. The digital bank’s client can now order a card with their name on it so “no more awkwardly being called ‘Monzo Beta’ when picking up a coffee at your local shop.”

The banking challenger notes that to order your card, you need to open Monzo’s app and click the item at the top of your feed and then follow the steps provided in your app. The Monzo team will then send your card out as soon as possible (within a week).

The Monzo team states:

“Our new card design features an even hotter coral color, which now extends to the core of the card. … all of your card details are now printed on the back of the card instead of the front. … we launched contactless cards back in January 2020, … we went through several design iterations to make sure our new personalized cards looked exactly like we wanted.”

The Monzo team also mentioned that since all of the customers’ sensitive personal details are now on the back of the payment cards, “it’s now safe (and encouraged!) to post photos of the front (only) of your card online.” The digital bank also noted that it looks forward to seeing Monzo cards “out in the wild” (like on social media).

While sharing other updates, the Monzo team confirmed that in May 2017, they had signed the Women in Finance Charter, and “pledged to improve the gender balance in their senior team.” The digital bank had stated that by 2020, they’d “aim to have women make up at least 40% of both their executive committee and our board.”

Monzo’s management confirmed that they’ve achieved one of their targets, and “with one open role on our board, we still have an opportunity to meet our board target by the end of the year too.” (Note: for more details on this update check here.)

The Monzo team also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our lives “up and down the country, particularly our finances.”

They pointed out that StepChange Debt Charity is the United Kingdom’s leading provider of “free, impartial debt advice.” Monzo recently asked these experts for their “top tips on taking back control of your finances in a year where so many of us desperately need help.” (Note: to learn more about what to do if you’ve been made redundant or other financial challenges, check here.)
