Former General Motors Executive Dhivya Suryadevara Appointed Chief Financial Officer at Stripe

Payments platform Stripe recently announced it has appointed Dhivya Suryadevara as its new Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Stripe, Suryadevara served as Chief Financial Officer at the automobile brand, General Motors, where she oversaw financial operations amounting to over $100 billion in annual revenue and millions of vehicles delivered annually by 180,000 employees across six continents.

Stripe revealed that Suryadevara’s appointment follows the recent appointments of Mike Clayville, formerly of Amazon Web Services, as Stripe’s Chief Revenue Officer, and Trish Walsh, previously at Voya Financial, as General Counsel. Suryadevara notably joins Stripe at a point when the dislocations of 2020 spur a marked shift to online commerce. Stripe will soon have paid out $10 billion to customers that joined Stripe since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. in March. Speaking about her role at Stripe, Suryadevara stated:

“I’m very excited to join Stripe at a pivotal time for the company. Stripe’s mission to increase the GDP of the internet is more important now than ever. I really enjoy leading complex, large-scale businesses and I hope to use my skills to help accelerate Stripe’s already steep growth trajectory.”

John Collison, Co-Founder of Stripe, went on to add:

“Dhivya is a rare leader who has run an industry-leading leviathan but also gets excited about enabling the brand-new products and the yet-to-be-invented products, too. She has the expertise and the instincts to help steer Stripe through our growth in the years ahead.”
