Naveen Surya, Chairman at Fintech Convergence Council, Wants Indian Businesses to Identify Key Opportunities and Challenges Created Due to COVID-19

Naveen Surya, Chairman, Fintech Convergence Council & Chairman Emeritus, Payments Council of India, has noted that it’s important to understand the key challenges and opportunities created by the global COVID-19 outbreak.

Surya added that we must identify opportunities across the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) and Fintech sector across all continents.

Indian Fintech Zeta revealed on July 1, 2020 that it is planning to expand its operations into South East Asian markets. Zeta confirmed that its technology platform-as-a-service will be introduced in the Philippines and Vietnam.

Zeta’s platform will aim to improve Sodexo’s workers’ benefits by allowing the company to provide customized services for corporate clients and its employees in the Philippines and Vietnam.

Bhavin Turakhia, Co-founder and CEO at Zeta stated:

“After building our benefits solution in India, we realized there is huge potential for our platform in markets outside India as well. We already have a strong relationship with Sodexo, and we are happy to provide our services to Sodexo in other countries as well. Vietnam and The Philippines are the first Sodexo markets to go live on the Zeta platform.”

Google Accelerator also announced on July 1 that it has expanded its focus into India’s technology sectors including Fintech, Healthtech, and AR/VR products.

Google Accelerator noted that it has made an effort to promote women-managed Fintech startups and businesses through its accelerator program.

Smita Aggarwal, Global Investments Advisor, Flourish Ventures (in India), recently noted:

“One of the lasting behavior changes due to the pandemic is acceleration of digitalization. Global Fintech Fest [will aim to] leverage this new normal and provide a unique platform for stimulating conversations on fintech. I am excited by its ability to bring together fintech experts and foster collaboration across countries.”

(Note: The Global Fintech fest is being organized by the Internet and Mobile Association of India [IAMAI], the Payments Council of India [PCI] and the Fintech Convergence Council [FCC].

The virtual event will take place on July 22-23, 2020 with the theme, “Fintech: With and Beyond COVID.” The event will include discussions on digital payments, online lending, digital insurance, data management, financial inclusion, digital transformation, crypto and blockchain, among other topics).
