Insurtech Rnwl Wants to Crowdfund, Polls Public for Feedback on Which Platform it Should Choose

Rnwl, an Insurtech startup founded by SyndicateRoom creator Gonçalo de Vasconselos, has revealed its intent to raise seed capital online. It is a natural decision for the company as Vasconselos got his start in the online capital formation sector of Fintech. But which platform should Rnwl use?

Vasconselos cannot use SyndicateRoom due to the clear conflict of interest. He remains a shareholder and the board if directors of SyndicateRoom. In brief, Vasconselos has limited his choice to just two options: Seedrs or Crowdcube – the two largest crowdfunding sites in the United Kingdom.

In a very unscientific approach, Vasconselos posted a survey on Twitter for feedback from anyone interested in sharing their opinion. Interestingly, Seedrs won the day.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the discussion was some of the comments generated by the survey as several respondents felt that Seedrs and their secondary market was key in the decision.

Seedrs is the only equity-focused platform to have launched an in-house trading marketplace. While volume remains small, over time a clear liquidity path for an asset class that is traditionally not very liquid bodes well for the crowdfunding site.

While Rnwl has not yet made their decision public, Crowdfund Insider is aware that discussions have been held with both platforms.

If you are interested in receiving more information, Rnwl is accepting pre-registration for the offering now. Deal terms remain unknown.
