WorldRemit Announces New Global Remittance Partnership With Alipay

WorldRemit, a UK based Fintech in the digital money transfer sector, announced on Wednesday it has formed a new global remittance partnership with Alipay. According to WorldRemit, the collaboration will enable consumers to use the WorldRemit app or website for cross-border remittances to the Alipay app.

WorldRemit also reported that the partnership marks a further step in Alipay’s effort to provide “power of digital and mobile technology.” To further explain the partnership, Tamer El-Emary, Chief Commercial Officer of WorldRemit, stated:

“Our vision is to build a mobile-first, international payments service and we’re excited to work with Alipay as a partner. The partnership will focus on innovation, customer experience and speed to market.”

The digital service will provide senders and recipients a fast, secure, and convenient way to transfer money whilst reducing the high associated costs, according to WorldRemit.

With WorldRemit’s mobile first approach to digitising remittances, the collaboration between Alipay and WorldRemit will help make remittance services more convenient and affordable, especially for migrant workers globally.”

Ma Zhiguo, Alipay’s Head of Global Remittances, then added:

“We look forward to working with WorldRemit to build a remittance service that is fast, secure, and cost effective. The unique mobile to mobile payment experience that this partnership delivers allows us to provide a convenient money transfer service to Alipay customers.”

Founded in 2010, WorldRemit is seeking to change the way people send money abroad. The company sends to 150 countries around the world and has more than four million customers.
