The New Zealand Automobile Association (AA New Zealand) is teaming up with insurance technology (Insurtech) firm Greater Than in order to make driving a lot safer.
The partnership will reportedly involve the use of the insurtech company’s artificial intelligence (AI) software Enerfy to offer “real-time understanding” of risk among drivers, which should improve road safety.
AA New Zealand’s members represent over 54% of all licensed drivers in the country. The insurer stated that the use of the Insurtech platform might allow for greater transparency while offering better risk insight for all stakeholders. This should help promote improved road safety in New Zealand, the company said.
Jack Bergquist, national sales manager at AA New Zealand, stated:
“We could see that the traditional ‘line in the sand’ approach to telematics was very effective in stopping extreme behavior but didn’t manage to support drivers to continually improve beyond those hard borders.”
Bergquist added:
“Discovering Enerfy provided a solution to this dilemma by offering granular risk based insights for every journey. This helps, along with our practical training, to give our clients a best in class approach to driver safety within their fleets.”
At first, Enerfy will be offered to AA New Zealand’s fleet clients. The features and services include real-time analysis and understanding of risk through the risk management portal of the platform, “driver gamifications”, and feedback obtained through an AA App, which is powered by Enerfy.
The New Zealand AA is an incorporated society that offers several different services to its members such as free-of-cost motoring advice, breakdown services, vehicle repairs, driver licensing and training, travel maps, accommodation guides and bookings, insurance and finance. The insurer reportedly has over 1.4 million members in New Zealand, as of 2015.
The company is also a supporter of developing an improved and safer driving environment for New Zealand’s residents. The insurer has been supporting kiwi drivers for over 100 years, which makes it the oldest motoring club in the country.
