European Telco & Electronics Retailer Partners with UTrust to Accept Cryptocurrencies as Payments

Phone House, a European electronics retailers and telecommunications providers, has formed a partnership with UTtrust, a cryptocurrency payment solution.

UTrust, based in Switzerland, went live earlier this year when football club Benifica enlisted its services to accept cryptocurrency payments.

Beginning next month, Phone House customers in Portugal will be able to purchase electronics at PhoneHouse.pt using crypto. The option to pay with cryptocurrency will initially roll out in Portugal, with other countries to be added in the coming months, according to the company.

UTrust CEO, Nuno Correia, said they were delighted to be adding Phone House as a merchant and offering their customers and the crypto community the option of paying for electronics using a variety of cryptocurrencies.

“…we look forward to adding more merchants in the coming weeks and months, ” Correia said.

Pedro Brehm, General Director of Phone House Portugal, said they are excited with partnership with UTRUST, making payment through cryptocurrency possible for our Phone House customers.

“This announcement coincides with the redesign of the phonehouse.pt online store. We are living through challenging times for retailers, defined by constant change and new concepts. At Phone House we are innovating and anticipating these changes, and through this partnership with payment platform UTRUST, we are positioning ourselves as a first mover.”

Phone House expects to access a broader customer base by enabling the purchase with cryptocurrency. The UTRUST platform enables users to pay using the native UTRUST token (UTK) in addition to other cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
