Eat Square & Dandy on Seedrs: Because It’s Lunchtime Somewhere

It’s time to eat somewhere… and Seedrs has some live campaigns that will make readers stomach’s growl with hunger! Take Dandy and Seedrs’ alum Eat Square pies…

In 2017, after crowdfunding £40,000 on its first Seedrs raise, Eat Square’s reportedly turnover has more than doubled in 2018. At this writing, Eat Square is quickly nearing success, having raised  £42,710+ or 85% of its goal for 5.49% equity offered.

Founded in 2014 by restaurateur Alex Joel and pre-valued at £860,783, Eat Square offers pies made with free range local meats and ingredients from traditional recipes; each pie is reportedly made from a family recipe passed down from generation to generation:

“Eat Square care about the ingredients we use so we source our meat locally and bake traditional pies. Our meat comes from just 3 miles down the road in Broughton Gifford and is all free range, as our our eggs. We make all our own pastry in house to traditional recipes and this is one of the reasons our pies taste so good. The fillings are cooked by us and we pack these in every Eat Square pie to make sure its the best it can be.”

Eat Square, a National Pie Awards multiple winner and acclaimed pie manufacturer, will use the new funding for the development of a second side to the business: its franchise.

“Now fully developed, with our first franchisees sold and more in the pipeline, this side of the business is growing,” said East Square on its campaign. “The wholesale side of the business has also had considerable investment and is now poised to grow quickly. Eat Square has a new range of pies and increased production capacity and storage. This new round of funding will help us capitalize on this and our web property.”

With the help of Seedrs’ funding and after three successful years in Hackney, this year Dandy is ready to launch its first permanent restaurant and bar in a high-footfall location on Maltby Street, Bermondsey. The venture will be backed by established restaurateur and investor Matt Wells, co-founder of The Dairy, Counter Culture and Knife Steak House. At this writing, over 80 investors have committed over £86,810 for the London restaurant pre-valued at £1,234,000. Overfunding by more than 115%, Dandy investors will share the 5.73% equity offered.

With the 10-meter open kitchen and bar, Dandy plans to place a dedicated spotlight on beer, working closely with twelve local and independent brewers from Bermondsey’s ‘beer mile’ and beyond. The wine list will be all-natural, while a dining menu cooked by critically-acclaimed Director and Chef Dan Wilson will be available daily. Additionally, 2019 will see the opening of an in-house brewery on the second level of the venue, with scope to develop a B2B wholesale and take-away retail offering making this an attractive prospect for investors.
