Crowdfunded Electric Car Uniti Now Has Over €50 Million in Pre-Orders

Uniti, an electric car project that raised growth capital via several investment crowdfunding rounds, is reporting pre-orders of €50 million for their first vehicle.

In a note to their community, Uniti stated;

“We have some good news to share. Uniti has recently surpassed our first €50 million in pre-order value. The worldwide attention for our electric car has been nothing short of amazing and reaching this milestone further validates the global demand for our vehicle.”

As CI previously reported, Uniti first offered shares in its company on FundedByMe in 2016. Equity was sold at a valuation of €9.8 million.

In 2017, Uniti launched a self-crowdfunding campaign that received the backing of 950 investors from 37 different countries.

The Sweden based company produced a highly professional pitch with an impressive video explaining the project. Pre-orders may be had for just €149. This amount is “refundable at any time” thus encouraging individuals to back the young firm.

The Uniti One, their first vehicle, is a 2-seat, 100% electric city car that is expected to be priced from €14,900.

If you are curious about the specs of the car, they are as follows:

  • 150-300km range
  • 130kmph top speed
  • 0-80 in less than 4 seconds
  • 2910 (L) / 1275 (W) / 1428 (H)
  • 450kg dry weight
  • 15-24kWh Li-ion battery

Uniti has formed partnerships with more than 40 different corporations including big names like Siemens and E.ON.

Uniti will offer the Uniti One first to consumers in northern European metro areas. First first deliveries are planned for late 2019. Additional markets will be added soon after the first vehicles roll off the assembly line. All sales will be via direct to consumes thus skipping over the standard dealership network.

So far, Uniti has been on target with their project. For early investors, it will be interesting to see how their investments will perform.
