Monzo News: Apple Pay is Now Available to Users

UK-based challenger bank Monzo announced on Thursday that users may use their Monzo cards with Apple Pay. The bank reported that it considers Apple Pay to be an easier, safer way to pay in stores, in apps and online with the Apple devices that users use daily.

We’d really love to have done this sooner and we’re sorry it’s taken so long. Apple Pay has been by far the most requested feature over the last few months, and we’re glad that it’s finally here.”

To get started, users simply add their card to Apple Pay through their Wallet or from Monzo app. Through the Wallet, just open the Wallet and tap + Follow the instructions to add the card. From the Monzo app, open the Monzo app and there will be an option to add Monzo to Wallet. Users then just need to follow instructions. Apple Pay is available on the following devices:

  • iPhone: Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and later in stores, apps and websites in Safari
  • Apple Watch: in stores and apps (requires iPhone 6 or later)
  • iPad: iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation), iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later in apps and websites in Safari
  • Mac: Mac (2012 or later) in Safari with an Apple Pay-enabled iPhone or Apple Watch.

Monzo added that there is no limit on Apple Pay transactions, but some merchants apply the contactless limit and will only accept payments of up to £30. Transactions made in-app and in Safari browser are not limited.
