Receivables and Supply Chain Financing Firm Culum Capital Comments on GTR Ventures Investment

Culum Capital, a Singapore-based receivables and supply chain financing platform, has received an investment  from GTR Ventures. GTR revealed several Fintech investments this past week – mainly in the online lending vertical.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with GTR Ventures,” commented Ginnie Chin, co-founder & CEO of Culum Capital. “With their support and links to the global trade finance ecosystem, Culum Capital will be able to offer stakeholders targeted access to wider markets. We see this as the first of many global alliances for the company.”

Culum points to data that 80% of trade is financed by credit or credit insurance. An estimate by the World Trade Organization says the value of unmet demand for trade finance in developing Asia is US $700 billon. This is were Culum wants to step in.

Culum Capital’s platform can provide Asian corporates with access to working capital funded by accredited investors. The platform provides an alternative form of investment with attractive return for investors from around the world. The transactions carry a short term of maximum 120 days, with the average transaction at 70 days. Culum says that annualised gross returns are between 10 and 25%, with a strong SME diversification.

Kelvin Tan, Chief Investment Officer of GTR Ventures, said their strategic investment in Culum is part of broader vision to channel alternative debt and equity investments into high yield SME trade lending in Asia.

As part of our global portfolio of digital trade and supply chain lenders, Culum Capital will allow investors to access exceptional credit opportunities in Southeast Asia and China.”
