Overfunding: ZoomDoc Surpasses £500,000 in Funding Through Seedrs Round

UK healthtech ZoomDoc has successfully secured its initial £500,000 funding target through equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs. The company launched the funding round in November and has already attracted more than 275 investors with its 19.99% equity stake.

As previously reported, ZoomDoc was founded by practicing NHS GP, Dr. Kenny Livingstone and is described as a healthtech service that allows users to instantly book a GP to arrive at their preferred location within the hour. ZoomDoc was created in response to the challenges being experienced by NHS and the shortage of doctors as frustrated patients may have to wait for weeks before they can be seen.

“ZoomDoc is reinventing the way patients see GPs by pioneering a ‘new old way’, to help patients receive great care whenever and wherever they need it. Patients and GPs are fed-up with a system that is broken. It’s common to wait weeks to get a GP appointment and when you finally get seen, you could have as little as 10 minutes for the doctor to understand, examine, diagnose and decide on appropriate action. We’ve created user-friendly technology that connects patients to trusted GPs in seconds and seen in the comfort of their home in minutes.”

The app kicked off with a soft-launch in March 2017 and currently has around 2,000 registered users. ZoomDoc. Home visits start at £99 and a phone consultation starts at £25. Dr. Livingstone recently revealed:

“Having been built and run by GPs who are passionate about delivering great care, ZoomDoc offers both GPs and patients the latest and most compelling proposition in the market. With our Seedrs campaign, we hope to secure the funding to provide us the capital we need to build further in terms of expanding tech and marketing support – so please fund the most comprehensive and efficient GP platform available.”

Dr. Livingstone then added:

“Our goal is to help people who need it the most: frustrated patients who have to wait for weeks to see a doctor about their present ailment. We know there’s a palpable need for innovation in the state and quality of healthcare, and the time is beyond ripe for alternative models of primary care to take off.”

The campaign is set to close later this winter.
