Legion M, a fan-owned entertainment company, announced on Wednesday it will be making its debut at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. According to Legion M, the Legion M Lounge will be open from Thursday, January 18th, to Sunday, January 21st and will be the location of a special invitation-only reception for Sundance Midnight selection MANDY.
Along with SpectreVision, XYZ Films, and Umedia, Legion M is notably a production partner on MANDY, a highly-anticipated thriller that’s directed by Panos Cosmatos and stars Nicolas Cage. The film’s synopsis reads:
“Mandy is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Red Miller, a broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.”
While sharing details about the lounge, Legion M stated that the lounge will be home to an ongoing series of live-streaming interviews that will be hosted by film critic, historian, and Legion M adviser, Leonard Maltin, and Movie Pilot’s Russ Fischer. The company also reported:
“Reaching more than 30 million fans through digital and social channels, the combination of Legion M and Movie Pilot will bring a unique fan-driven perspective as Maltin and Fischer interview filmmakers and actors from such films as MANDY, Summer of ’84, Clara’s Ghost, Hearts Beat Loud, Beirut and Assassination Nation, among others. Interviews will take place between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, January 19 through Sunday, January 21, and will be available to view on Movie Pilot’s various channels.”
Legion M Lounge guests will also be able to learn more about Cinemark Movie Club, a unique monthly in-theatre membership program offering exclusive benefits such as ticket and concession discounts for members and friends for just $8.99 per month.
Legion M’s Sundance Festival debut comes less than six months after the company completed its equity crowdfunding round on WeFunder. Legion M has raised $1.95 million on a goal of between $500,000 and $50 million – the max allowable under Reg A+. The company previously listed a Reg CF offer that raised the max amount of $1 million.
