Two years ago, Companisto celebrated the record-breaking €7.5 million campaign for Weissenhaus Grand Village & Spa. The German platform claimed Europe’s largest crowdfunding campaign as approximately 1600 investors participated in the public offer. Weissenhaus, a 5 star resort and village located on the North Sea approximately 100 kilometers from Hamburg, has returned to Companisto for its second campaign and has already secured over 892K€ toward its 2M€ goal on its first day. Refresh the site and the funding numbers climb. With over 305 investors backing the hotel, the largest investment investment has only been 10,000€.

In the next phase, the Weissenhaus Resort will be transformed, as a result of the foundation of a new Weissenhaus Holding and the extension of the business areas under this new roof, into the Weissenhaus Group. In addition to the continued further development, the next phase will see the extension of the business model by two features that will both open up new revenue potential while at the same time synergetically paying into the existing activities. The “Sonneneck” project (development and sale of apartments on the Weissenhaus estate)and “Bootshaus Hafencity” (opening of a further Bootshaus restaurant in the Hafencity district of Hamburg).
“To finance the next phase, we are planning to use the same financing mix made up of the initiators’ equity, a significantly smaller proportion of leverage and crowd funding. To this end we are inviting Companists to invest again together with the Initiator, Jan Henric Buettner,” according to the campaign. “The investment will be covered by, among other things, entries in the land register and a personal guarantee by Jan Henric Buettner serving as collateral.”
About 12 years ago, Jan Henric Buettner, an entrepreneur, internet executive and angel investor, purchased the 400 year old village to restore and revitalize a resort that had fallen into disrepair. Weissenhaus, the historic manor house located directly by the Baltic Sea, forms the ideal synthesis of 400 years of history “with harmonious idyll and unrivaled exclusivity.” Now the Weissenhaus Grand Village Resort & Spa By The Sea, counts itself as Germany’s most exclusive beach resort, according to “Manager Magazin” and the Hotel Of The Year 2016 according to “Der Feinschmecker.”
On the estate there have been many changes since its first crowd investing:
Conversion of the former holiday apartments in the Old Smithy to upgrade the four existing apartments by adding large patios with a view of the sea
Construction of a high-end carport facility to accommodate all guest and shuttle vehicles- Completion of “Kavaliershaus am Schlossteich”, the Breakfast and Event Restaurant with outdoor terraces and a boutique in the upper storey
- Completion of the Artists’ Studio, of the jetty on the lake as well as of a floral workshop
- Putting into service of a further treatment cubicle and of the Banja as a new attraction of Schlosstherme (the spa in the resort)
- The historic rose garden behind the bakehouse was newly created from scratch and the Conservatory was added for events
- Completion of laundry building and housekeeping storage facilities – now independent from service providers and reduction of logistics expenditures
Weissenhaus is offering rewards for this campaign ranging from a “Greetings from Weissenhaus” gift box with products from the hotel’s farm shop for a 2,500€ to a 1 week (up to 6 nights) at Weissenhaus for 2 persons in a suite (overnight stay, lunch, dinner, spa treatments) for a 250K€ investment. 60 days remain on the campaign.
