TLC Releases First Single “Way Back” From Kickstarter-Funded Album

On Thursday, all-girl music group TLC premiered the first single from their Kickstarter-funded album. The new song, which is called “Way Back,” features Snoop Dogg. Bandmate, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, shared on her Twitter.

TLC, which originally consisted of Thomas, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes, sought to raise $150,000 on Kickstarter two years ago for their fifth and final album. The project successfully secured $430,255 from 4,201 backers. Thomas and Watkins are current members, and unfortunately, Lopes passed away after a tragic car accident. At the time of the campaign’s launch, the album was set to be delivered in September 2015, but there were setbacks. Earlier this month the group’s manager, Bill Diggins, announced the album is scheduled to be released at the end of June 2017.

Hey Kickstarter Family, The album date is firm, June 30th is the release of the new TLC album that you made happen! Tionne and Chilli have been working night and day to hit this date. The video and a photo shoot on April 18th, 19th, 20th.”

Thomas and Watkins are currently asking backers to help them with the album’s title. Check out “Way Back” below.
