Indiegogo Success Tens Launches Kickstarter Campaign For Filter Sunglasses

Less than three years after securing £374,213 through its Indiegogo campaignTens, the creator of real life photo filtering sunglasses, has launched a reward-based crowdfund campaign through Indiegogo’s competitor, Kickstarter. Originally seeking £10,000, the company’s initiative has already secured its funding target and is nearing £30,000.

The UK-based startup, which was founded by Kris Reid, Marty Bell, and Tom Welsh explained that its sunglasses were developed by photographers and have custom filter lens that offers an “uplifting tint.” Tens explained that while regular sunglasses block out the sun with “cold desaturated lens tints,” its sunglasses work with the warm of the sun to make everyday life look and feel ten times better (thus its name). The lens also feature full UV400 protection, which blocks 100% harmful rays. It was revealed:

Tens was imagined by three friends during a road trip through the Scottish Highlands. As photographers and filmmakers with a love for adding rich, warm colours to our work, it felt natural to bring this process to the real world. We felt that sunglasses shouldn’t just be focused on how you look whilst wearing them; more so on how everything looks through them, and way that it makes the user feel.”

Two years after its successful Indiegogo campaign came to an end, Tens received a significant investment from famous entrepreneur and Virgin Group’s Sir Richard Branson, who previously stated:

“Kris, Marty and Tom have shown tremendous entrepreneurial spirit to get where they are today; they’ve done an amazing job bringing their ambition to life. Tens have come in and disrupted the sunglasses market, a tactic I’m all too familiar with! And I love the product, no matter where I am in the world I can stick on a pair of Tens and feel like I’m right back on Necker Island.”

Those backing the project may receive a pair of the filter sunglasses starting at £60. Estimated delivery is currently May 2017. The campaign is set to close on April 27th.
