On Thursday, tabletop game creator, Tasty Minstrel Games (TMG), launched its equity crowdfunding campaign through Indiegogo. Founded in 2010, the company has secured more than $2.5 million on Kickstarter to fund 26 individual hobby board gaming projects. While sharing details about the company’s history, the TMG team stated:
“Tabletop games date as far back as 3500 BC, but recent interest has spiked the development of more innovative, creative options. Tasty Minstrel Games (TMG) has produced 60 games, with a wide array of options ranging from the civilization-building card game Eminent Domain to the fantasy-adventure dice game Dungeon Roll. TMG has sold over 400,000 games since its inception in 2010 and saw gross profit increase 33% in 2016 to over $475,000 from over $350,000 in 2015. The company plans to continue to build brand awareness and introduce exciting new titles to the growing games market.”
The company also reported it has generated more than $5 million in gross sales since inception almost seven years ago. TMG reports that while video and mobile games are widely popular, tabletop games and puzzles have notably seen the latest increase in sales (18%) for 2016 relative to all other toy categories:
“Board games in particular have seen substantial growth, and both children and adults are jumping on the bandwagon. With more gamers come the opportunity for more innovative, creative games, which is what TMG seeks to deliver. With 60 published games, TMG strives to provide diverse games that strengthen family unity, communication, and love.”
Popular games by TMG include Dungeon Roll, Eminent Domain, Orléans, Guilds of London, and Scoville and Scoville: Labs. Funds from the Indiegogo equity round will be used to help TMG expand. The campaign is set to close later this spring.
