Hummus Bros Returns to Seedrs to Raise £125,000 to Expand Mediterranean Restaurant

Mediterranean restaurant and pop-up chain, Hummus Bros, has returned to equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs to raise 125,000 as it prepares for expansion. The company secured 454,651 less than two years ago.

Hummus Bros was launched in May 2003 by friends Christian Mouysset and Roen Givon. Their dream was to “open a place dedicated to hummus,” and the restaurant chain claims it is the only place in the UK to focus solely on hummus. Mouysset and Givon previously stated:

“Hummus Bros was born on a glorious hot day in May 2003, when, as two college friends, we were searching for something filling and healthy that would taste great, and still leave some change for drinks at the Union Bar. Passing on the usual options of pizza or sandwiches, we stumbled out of a small specialist delicatessen with three basic ingredients: pitta bread, hummus, and olive oil. In no time at all, the bowls of hummus were wiped spotlessly clean. ‘I could eat a good meal like that every day!’ someone remarked. We looked at each other and smiled – a dream was born: to open a place dedicated to hummus.”

Hummus Bros’ menu has options for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters, and those who have food intolerances. Items on the menu include side salads, mezzes, wraps (falafel and chicken), baklava, and homemade gluten-free brownies. The restaurant also makes its own lemonade and spiced apple drinks. Hummus Bros currently has six restaurants/pop-ups in London: Soho, Holborn, St. Paul’s, Exmouth Market, Gray’s Inn Road, and Eastcheap.

Funds from the campaign will be used to continue Hummus Bros’ expansion. Since its launch, the initiative has secured nearly £85,000. It is set to close later this spring.
