Smart Device & Mobile App Platform Alchema Launches Equity Crowdfunding Round on Indiegogo For Alcoholic Beverage Brewing Device

Alchema, a smart device and mobile app platform that provides a hassle-free solution to making hard ciders, meads, wines, and other alcoholic brews, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The company previously secured $344,231 from 899 backers through its reward-based crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in 2016 for its cider crafting device.

The company stated its patent technology product has valves to release gas as needed during the fermentation process, and its built-in sensors monitor all the important parameters of the brewing process. Its weight sensor also measures the ingredients and users are notified via the mobile App when the target levels are hit. More important, the device has an air-tight seal and self-sanitizes to prevent contamination along with a built-in medical grade UVC-LED light that generates ultra light that kills bacteria at the specific wavelength range.

Alchema’s mobile app, which will be available for both iOS and Android, will notify users when both the alcohol content and sweetness has reached desired status along with if the Wi-Fi connection to the device is disconnected, or if temperature/pressure levels are abnormal. From this app, users will notably also be able to choose from hundreds of recipes or create their own by setting a desired sweetness and alcohol content. The company also noted:

The Alchema device can hold 0.6 gallons (2.4 liters), or about three bottles of wine, when using fresh juice; with fresh fruit, users can get about 0.52 gallons (2 liters). A batch of cider typically takes one to two weeks to ferment, depending on the fruit and recipe. Mead can be made in less than a week, while wine takes at least 16 weeks to age properly. The Alchema device can also ferment wort (the liquid extracted from the mashing process) for beer. The App’s initial release will not feature beer or wine recipes.

Funds from the Indiegogo campaign will go towards final pilot testing for Alchema’s device; shipping and manufacturing costs; and advertising. The company expects to begin shipping as early as fall 2017 and will roll out additional accessories in early 2018. The initiative is set to close later this spring.
