Kickstarter Alum Wiivv Secures $4 Million During Series A Funding Round & Acquires eSoles

Bionics company that creates custom 3D printed gear, Wiivv, announced on Wednesday it not only raised $4 million in Series A funding, it also acquired eSoles, a custom insoles manufacturer. This news comes just one year after securing $235,054 from 2,765 backers through Kickstarter for its 3D printed insoles, BASE.

According to Wiivv, the Series A funding was led by a private Seattle-based tech investor syndicate, and those who invested through the round were Eclipse VC, Evonik Venture Capital, Real Ventures, and Asimov Ventures. The company noted that through the eSoles acquisition, it will have data for more than 50,000 3D foot scans and will allow for enhanced precision in the development of its future footwear products. Shamil Hargovan, CEO and Co-Founder of Wiivv, stated:

“The highlight of 2016 has been the formation of a world-class team of innovators and partners, who are all passionate about the positive everyday impact we can have in people’s lives with custom-fit footwear becoming available mainstream. We will accelerate our vision of every shoe made custom to you, and will continue to learn and lead as we bring custom footwear to the masses.”

Wiivv previously secured $3.5 million during its seed funding round in December 2015. The company has developed a scalable, enterprise level Adaptive Manufacturing System that features the world’s fastest product customization engine designed to produce custom body gear. The company’s next product will launch in Spring 2017.
