Ed Sheeran Teams Up With Seedrs Alum Twickets For April & May Concerts to Stop Fans From Buying Overpriced Tickets

Ready to give back to fans wanting to attend his concerts, musician Ed Sheeran announced it is partnering with Seedrs alum, Twickets, for his upcoming April and May shows to stop online touts from selling tickets for up to £1,000 each.

A representative of the “Thinking Out Loud” crooner recently revealed:

“We are vehemently opposed to the unethical practices that occur in the secondary market. We have written to each of our partners, be they promoters, venues or ticketing companies detailing the way in which we expect tickets to be sold: direct to fans. We have also partnered with a company called Twickets, which is a site aimed at the ethical resale of tickets. It allows fans to swap tickets at face value or less; we are pushing them as the official resale partner and a safe place for fans to swap tickets. We are aware and deeply concerned about the websites in question and have urged all fans not to engage with them in order to avoid being ripped off with higher prices or, potentially, counterfeit tickets. Once again, we urge all fans to only purchase tickets through official vendors.”

Twickets also noted on Twitter:

The news of Sheeran’s partnership with Twickets comes less than a month after the ticketing platform closed its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The website secured more than £1.2 million in funds, with an original funding target of £700,000.

Twickets has achieved more than  £2.7 million in ticket sales and 240,000 mobile app downloads since its launch in 2011. The platform has been named the exclusive resale platform for various musicians, which includes Adele, Mumford & Sons, and One Direction. The website also attracted investors such as the founder of Ignition Management (Noel Gallagher, Catfish & The Bottlemen), Modest! (One Direction, Olly Murs), the founder of Wildlife (Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood), Chris Wright (Chrysalis plc co-founder), Steve Parish (Chairman / co-owner Crystal Palace FC), Tony Wadsworth (ex-EMI Chairman).
