Mobile Device Brand Victor Mobility Nears £600,000 Funding Target During the Final Week on Crowdcube

With its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube set to close later this week, mohas successfully secured more than £565,000 from nearly 400 investors. The initiative was launched last month and is currently seeking £600,000.

The company, which is backed by The Royal Marines Charity and has partnered with design specialists, AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield), stated it is now developing a next generation, innovative mobility device that addresses the needs of wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.

Whilst most electric wheelchairs & mobility scooters can move the user from point a to point b, they don’t enable them to operate in an able-bodied environment. Existing devices are typically bulky & don’t allow a user to negotiate kerbs, historic doorways, sit comfortably at a table or crucially, operate in a ‘social space’ at ‘social height’ (i.e. 1.5m eye line).”

Victor reported it is aiming to take a disabled person back to social height, aid social interaction, help improve mental help and increase independence. The company also explained its partnership with AMRC:

“Together, we are developing & testing various designs that comply with British regulations for a Class 3 device (meaning it can be used both on the pavement and on the road). We have produced an initial prototype which proves the solution, and in turn enables us to produce our first full prototype of VICTOR. We have been supported and advised by various charities: most notably by The Royal Marines Charity who have funded the first work phase.”

Funds from the Crowdcube campaign will be used for completing the design process and bringing it to market. The campaign is set to close this Thursday (February 2nd).
