YouCaring Initiatives Secures Over $1M For Ghost Ship Fire Victims

Following the devastating Ghost Ship fire in Oakland that killed nearly 40 people, YouCaring announced that campaigns dedicated to the tragic event’s victims had raised more than $1 million on its crowdfunding platform.

ghostship-fireOn the evening of December 2nd, the first broke out in the warehouse during a concert. This became the deadliest fire in Oakland’s history and was reportedly the deadliest building fire in the U.S. since the Station Nightclub fire in 2003. While sharing details about the campaigns, YouCaring revealed the initiative started by the Oakland A’s, Oakland Fire Relief, has so far raised over $460,000. The Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors have matched up to $50,000 each for a total of $150,000. Sutter Health also pledged $75,000 in support. And Kaiser Permanente has also contributed $50,000 to the fund.

The Grey Area Foundation for the Arts’ Fire Relief Fund for Victims of Ghostship Oakland Fire also secured $628,0000. The platform reported 13 other campaigns for the cause raised more than $186,0000.
