Magic Instruments, a San Francisco-based musical instrument startup, has recently launched a Reg CF offering on WeFunder. The company successfully raised $415,000 through its Indiegogo campaign in June 2016 and was graduate of Y Combinator’s Winter 2016 class, and graduate of Highway 1 Fall 2015 class.
The company stated it combines technology and tradition to create musical instruments that lower the barrier to play music. Magic Instruments designs, manufactures, and markets instruments that entertain and educate others. Its key product, the MI Guitar, is described as a guitar that features a newly configured fretboard, which allows the user to play entire chords with a single button press. The company shared it tested its guitars on more than 1,000 users and claimed that everyone, including those who never learned music or even touched a guitar before, was able to play their first song within five minutes.
Magic Instruments revealed:
“Everyone wishes they could play music. But if you didn’t start learning to play an instrument before the age of 14, chances are you never will. 90% of people trying to learn guitar quit in the first year. Not only is it hard to learn, it takes years of practice. In today’s busy world, most people don’t have a minute to spare. We combine technology and tradition to create musical instruments that lower the barrier to playing music. We want to see more people making and playing music together!”
Speaking about Magic Instruments’ product, frontman of Music and 2016 Grammy Winner for Best Rock Album, Matt Bellamy, commented:
“For people who don’t have the time to learn the guitar, Magic Instruments is the ultimate shortcut – you’ll be strumming your favorite songs in minutes. For singers and non-guitar playing musicians, it’s also a great tool for songwriting.”
The company is seeking up to $1 million during the WeFunder campaign. So far, the campaign has secured more than $110,000 from nearly 200 investors.
