FIntech Proptech Regtech Insurtech LawtechKPMG has published their rankings of the top Fintech firms around the globe. While there is an element of subjectivity to reports like this it is still interesting to see how a global consultancy determines who makes the list and who is on the top.

KPMG’s list includes; 32 online lenders, 18 payment platforms, 12 insurtech firms, 8 regtech companies, 5 digital currency firms, 3 companies in capital markets, 2 crowdfunding platforms, 5 blockchain providers and a single acounting firm. If you break it down by regions, the Americas came out on top with 35 companies on the list. EMEA came in second place and Asia in third.  The author’s highlighted the emergence of China as a dominant player with a group of prominent names in the top ten including; Ant Financial, Lufax, Qudian, Zhong An and JD Finance.

So what criteria did KPMG use to rank these disruptive firms? Total capital raised was at the top.
