LUMO designs jackets and bags for cyclists that subtly incorporate ultra-high brightness LEDs. These lights are waterproof, washable and powered by a detachable USB-rechargeable battery unit. They are completely concealed until they are switched on, then visible from up to 400 meters when illuminated. LUMO also uses quality fabric technology and cycling-friendly design with the aim of ensuring that cyclists are kept dry, their temperature is moderated, and they are comfortable riding their bike. Currently, the company has a patent (number 1414215.2) pending on its system.
Founder of LUMO, Doug Bairner, previously stated:
“LUMO has been crowdfunded to date, via both Kickstarter and Crowdcube, where we raised £74,118 and £256,520 respectively. We’ll be raising an expansion round in mid to late-2016 to fuel LUMO’s international growth plans, as well as offering our crowd backers the chance to follow their money. Ideally, this would include a lead strategic investor who can help us to scale quickly into other geographies.”
The company shared:
“We’ve had another bright idea. On September 13th we are launching three innovative products to the world on Kickstarter. They have been a long time coming, but we’re pretty sure you’re going to love them.”
