Last week, former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Josh Johnson launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to refurbish a city bus that will transport Bay Area youths to academic workshops that are provided by non-profit organization, Fam 1st Family.
Fam 1st Family is a registered 501(c) 3 that was founded by Lynch along with Joshua Johnson (QB, Buffalo) and Marcus Peters (CB, Kansas City Chiefs). The new bus will allow the city’s youth to participate in the following workshops such as literacy programs, financial training, SAT/ACT workshops, art classes, and media center/recording studios.
Lynch and Fam 1st Family revealed that many students in the city are not able to use these workshops during to lack of the access they have in transportation. By funding the project, the youth will be able to travel from their neighborhoods using the bus, which will offer children a safe transportation to the workshops.
“Many of the students we aim to serve do not have access to transportation for additional educational resources. By helping us fund our bus, we are giving youth the opportunity to travel from their neighborhoods to our workshops. This is not only a resource for youth without transportation, but it provides a safe trip to and from our programs for all participants.”
The campaign is seeking to raise $25,000, which will go towards the tires, internet, miscellaneous mechanical, and exterior paint of the bus. Those that back the project will receive the following rewards:

The campaign is set to close at the end of August.
