Brief: Inspirus Credit Union Pitches In Nearly $40,000 to Spokane-Area Teachers During DonorsChoose Flash Funding

On Thursday, Seattle’s Inspirus Credit Union announced it has donated a total of $30,944 to Spokane-area classrooms in a surprise 100 percent “flash fund” of teachers’ school-supply requests posted on the crowdfunding platform, DonorsChoose. The credit union revealed that 2,943 students and 34 teachers will benefit from the donation.

SchoolsSuzanne Savall, Principal at Otis Orchards Elementary School (which received some of the donation) commented:

“It means so much to us to have businesses that actually take care of our schools for the requests that we need to help our precious students succeed.”

Savall reported six teachers at Otis Orchard had projects fully-funded. Last year, Inspirus donated more than $70,000 to Washington teachers through DonorsChoose.

Vice President of Marketing, Sherry Lotze, added:

“We’re passionate about education and giving back to the education community. Considering that many of our employees are former school teachers, we understand how difficult it can be for teachers to get the classroom supplies they need. This kind of giveback goes to the heart of our mission.”
