Brief: Spanish Crowdfunding Association President Oliver Discusses Upcoming CrowdDays

madrid spain espagneCrowdDays, reportedly the largest event focusing on crowdfunding in Spain, is celebrating its second year. In 2015, there were events in both Madrid and Barcelona; this year, events will be held in the original cities as well as in Bilbao and Valencia that focus on crowdfunding platforms, speaking engagements, presentations, workshops, and roundtables.

I caught up with Daniel Oliver, President of the Asociación Española de Crowdfunding, via email regarding the upcoming events to learn more about its inception:

“CrowdDays was born out of the sheer stubbornness and passion for crowdfunding of Valentín Acconcia, one of the veterans of the industry in Spain – and deserves full credit for that! In its first edition, CrowdDays proved that Spain was hungry for a large-scale crowdfunding event, and it assembled every professional in the country for two days of debate, conferences and networking. I believe crowdfunding in Spain was all the better for it, and we were all looking forward to see how it progressed.”

daniel oliverWhen asked about CrowdDays’ future, Oliver responded,

“We are all very happy to see that CrowdDays has now scaled up to an event that will be replicated in four major cities, much larger and with more participation, and we expect it to become the reference for Spanish crowdfunders as well as for those who want to understand this rising phenomenon.”
