The 2nd Annual Canadian Crowdfunding Summit (#CCS2016) is set to take place later this week (March 3). The event will cover all aspects of crowdfunding and will be held at the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.
Canada has recently updated its regulatory approach to raising capital online and the National Crowdfunding Association of Canada (NCFA) expects 2016 to be a year of exponential industry growth. Over 70 speakers will be participating and 12 pre and post-revenue companies will be pitching live at #CCS2016.
In a recent article by Alixe Cormick, she explained Canada now has two crowdfunding specific exemptions: the Start-Up Crowdfunding Exemption (May 14, 2015 – BC, SK, MB, QU, NB, and NS), and the Integrated Crowdfunding Exemption (Jan. 25, 2016 -MB, ON, QU, NB, and NS, with SK pending). Reportedly 6 platforms are using the Start-Up Crowdfunding Exemption with more expected.
Well known investor and AngelsDen founder Bill Morrow will keynote the 2016 conference.The Angel-led crowdfunding platform where allows people to invest in pre-vetted SMEs.
