Brief: Funds From Viral Kanye West GoFundMe Campaign to be Donated to Music Education Nonprofit, Notes for Notes

GoFundMe announced on Thursday the funds originally raised by campaign organizer Jeremy Platt to “Get Kanye Out of Debt” will be allocated to music education-focused nonprofit, Notes for Notes.

Kanye WestNotes for Notes is a nonprofit organization that designs, equips, and staffs Boys & Girls Clubs with recording studios, offering youth the opportunity to explore, create, and record music. Notes for Notes® studios are packed with a wide variety of professional instruments – guitars, basses, drums, keyboards/synths – and equipment – DJ gear, digital music workstations – and full recording facilities. Beyond providing access to equipment and resources, the organization also educates youth about careers, both on the stage and behind the scenes.

Piatt previously revealed to TMZ  that he was contacted by the crowdfunding platform and was told he cannot touch the fund from the campaign himself and that he would need to contact Kanye’s camp, who will only able to have access to the money.

West has officially refused the funds originally raised on his behalf. Piatt apparently has refocused his energy toward allocating the funds to a good cause that he hoped would be appreciated by the award-winning recording artist. He has decided to keep the campaign open for anyone wishing to donate to the kids that benefit from Notes for Notes, and all of the amazing programs they offer.
