Fans of Kesha Launch GoFundMe Initiative to Help Her Break Sony Contract

Last week, singer Kesha was hit a major legal blow when a judge refused to allow her to end her contract with Sony. The Tik Tok songstress asked to leave the mega music giant after admitting she was mentally abused and raped by record producer, Dr. Luke.

KeshaKesha’s case has not only sparked support from various musicians, including Demi Lovato, Lena Dunham and Taylor Swift (who gave Kesha $200,000), fans everywhere are now gathering on GoFundMe to help raise funds so that she may eventually cut ties with Dr. Luke and Sony for good.

Devoted Kesha fan and campaign organizer, Brandon de la Cruz, wrote:

“This is a campaign to achieve justice where the legal system has failed. This is a campaign to tell Sony that they cannot enable abusers by upholding unscrupulous contracts. This is a campaign to buy Kesha’s contract back from Sony and immediately release her from it. Clearly, they don’t want to work with her anymore, and they are spending legal fees on defending a contract they don’t care about anyway. So let’s give them an incentive to let her out.”

Noting why Sony isn’t allowing Kesha out of her contract, Cruz claimed:

Kesha 1“Sony is refusing to intervene, essentially siding with Dr. Luke, who insists he has done nothing wrong and therefore will not release Kesha from her contract. If the courts won’t believe her, and her record label refuses to listen, Kesha has literally no choice but to do nothing and watch her career disintegrate while her millions of fans are denied the chance to support her.”

Cruz added that no matter what happens, all of the money being donated will go to Kesha. Since its launch, the campaign has successfully secured nearly $20,000 from over 1,300 supporters.
