Brief: One Spark Puts Newly Developed “Creator Academies” On Hold

Despite announcing its new creator academies for this year’s One Spark Festival less than two months ago, it appears the company has decided to nix the plans for the accelerating programs for now.

One Team One SparkAccording to The Florida Times Tribute, One Spark revealed it created creator academies to help prepare participants in the upcoming festival event. The first class was scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday. Spokeswoman Kristen Sell stated:

“Creator Academy offerings are on hold until an announcement is made regarding One Spark 2016. While the current website [Onespark.com] lists the courses, registration was not activated. A new and improved One Spark website is being created and will go live with updated information following the announcement.”

This news comes just a week after One Spark announced it was extending the festival’s creator registration by a month from the original cut-off date of last Friday to February 29th. It was also revealed that officials have set a new date for the event, which will now be held on April 6th to the 8th. The festival’s organizers also stated in order to provide more quality displays they wish to fewer creators in this year’s event than in the previous years (which were around 600).

As previously reported, the event was rocked with the announcement that One Spark is making some several new changes, including the creation of its new social purpose corporation and the resignation of CEO Elton Rivas.
